The aesthetic experience of the picture gives an emotional indication of the traumatic experience connected with the horror of death and disease particularly at a time when metaphysical consolation by Christian transcendence has disappeared for many. Yet the combination of Eros and Thanatos in the picture also indicates the power of the pleasure principle. Die große Sonderausstellung „Pest!“ im Museum für Archäologie des Landschaftsverbandes Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) in Herne ist sicherlich so aktuell wie keine andere in diesem Jahr der Corona-Pandemie. Leider ist das Archäologiemuseum, wie mittlerweile sämtliche Museen, seit drei Wochen geschlossen. Allerdings bietet das LWL-Museum mehrere digitale Führungen an. Das Museumsteam Herne und der Ausstellungskurator Dr. Stefan Leenen präsentieren auf YouTube unter dem Titel „Pest auf Sendung“ Exponate aus dem Ausstellungsraum und erklären anschaulich Wissenswertes.
Die Museumsgestalterin Stefanie Dowidat hat in der Folge „Highlights der Ausstellung – Danse Macabre“ die Moderation zum Totentanzleuchtbild übernommen. Vielen lieben Dank und ein herzliches Glückauf ins Ruhrgebiet!
